Feminist Leader Declares Housewives are Legal Prostitutes 1969

Second Wave Feminist Frances Beal in 1969 called housewives legal prostitutes thereby essentially defining the husband as her pimp and this likening to traditional housewives as prostitutes was one of their favorite punchlines during second wave feminism. Betty Friedan called Gloria Steinem out on it and correctly identified the claim as an act of female chauvinism:
