"Guernica: Have you been following the 'SlutWalk' protests, the international movement borne out of remarks made by a Toronto police officer that 'women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not be victimized?' What are you thoughts on the movement?https://www.guernicamag.com/daily/michael_archer_qa_with_alice_w/
Alice Walker: I’ve always understood the word 'slut' to mean a woman who freely enjoys her own sexuality in any way she wants to; undisturbed by other people’s wishes for her behavior. Sexual desire originates in her and is directed by her. In that sense it is a word well worth retaining. As a poet, I find it has a rich, raunchy, elemental, down to earth sound, that connects us to something primal, moist, and free."
And here she is claiming that the word used to oppress black men is something positive despite her depictions being nothing but stereotypical:
"I’ve always understood the word 'nigger' to mean a black man who freely enjoys his own laziness in any way he wants to; undisturbed by other people’s wishes for his behavior. Industrial desire originates in him and is directed by him. In that sense it is a word well worth retaining. As a poet, I find it has a rich, raunchy, elemental, down to earth sound, that connects us to something primal, indigent, and unencumbered by productivity."http://www.femisex.com/content/alice-walker-reclaims-slut-and-nigger-valuable-women-and-blacks-calls-americans-terrorists
Walker is a notorious lesbian who got wealthy depicting black men as animals in "Color Purple" which started a torrent of books and movies depicting all black men as dogs and savages. Her daughter just came out and wrote a piece on how Walker's radical feminist views almost destroyed her:
"You see, my mum taught me that children enslave women. I grew up believing that children are millstones around your neck, and the idea that motherhood can make you blissfully happy is a complete fairytale.
Family love? A young Rebecca with her parents
In fact, having a child has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Far from 'enslaving' me, three-and-a-half-year-old Tenzin has opened my world. My only regret is that I discovered the joys of motherhood so late - I have been trying for a second child for two years, but so far with no luck."
